How to convert Sega Model 3 to Model 2(B-CRX)
Okay...basics:
Model 2 games have 3 different mainboards: A-CRX, B-CRX and C-CRX. Important for
you is that Model 2A(-CRX) has different CN (connection) numbers and different
CN-locations than B and C (which both have the same) see below:
Pinouts itself are the same. So only physical alteration was made on Model 2.
Pinout Information for Model 2(B and C-CRX), 2A-CRX in Blue:
Model 2 CN Number | Used for/Number of Pins | Pin Number | Connect to Model 3 CN/Pin | Additional info
3 (7) | RGB/5 | 1-5 | 6/1-5 | Same Pinouts so just plug in
5 (13) | Audio/4 | 1-4 | 8/1-4 | Same Pinouts so just plug in
9 (12) | +5 Volt and Ground input/10 | 1-10 | 14/1-10 | Same Pinouts so just plug in.
10 (3) | +5 Volt and Ground input/10 | 1-10 | 13/14-23 | Model 3 has a 24 pin
connector (CN 13). Pins are as follows: 1-8: +3,3V Not used on Model 2 9-18: Ground. Use pins 14-18 on Model 2 19-24: +5V. Use pins 19-23 on Model 2 If u do this u dont need an adapter. Just plug pins 14-23 into Model 2 CN 10 (3). Take care of having the right pins. Connector Is turned 180° |
|
13 (10) | 24 Bit Input/25 | 1-25 | 2 | Same pinouts so just plug in
Fan | Fan/2 | None | Connect the 2 pins of Model 2
fan to Model 2 pinout CN 8 (5), which is named +5 V Output.
Connect the 2 pins to pins 4 (+5V) and 5 (Ground) of CN 8 (5). Model 3 uses +12V for fan, so unless u want a helicopter use CN8 (5) of Model 2 as mentioned above. |
If done correctly everything should work nicely. Quite easy as u can see.
